What is Turo Host "Off Platform" insurance and why do I need it?
Turo Host "Off Platform" insurance is designed to provide auto liability and optional physical damage, personal injury protection, Underinsured/Uninsured Motorist coverages (if purchased) for eligible Turo Hosts when your vehicles are “Off Platform” (off trip) are not being shared or delivered pursuant to a booking. If purchased, this insurance can be used to satisfy state-mandated financial responsibility compliance.
Which Turo Hosts are eligible for this auto insurance policy?

You are eligible for this insurance policy if you are a Turo Host that:

  1. is twenty-one (21) years of age or older
  2. has at least one (1) vehicle registered on Turo and available for rent;
  3. had at least twenty (20) trips on Turo’s US platform;
  4. meets the vehicle eligibility requirements as stated on Turo’s US platform;
  5. meets the hosting standards as stated on Turo’s US platform;
  6. complies with the terms of service as stated on Turo’s US platform.
Do you offer full coverage?
Yes, comprehensive coverage but subject to limitations. Please keep in mind that your policy only covers your "Off-Platform" usage. Please see "When am I covered" below and refer to the Policy Wording.
When am I covered?
When your Insured Vehicle is shared via Turo US platform and is in the possession of a Guest. No
When your Insured Vehicle is shared via any other peer-to-peer vehicle-sharing platform or shared directly to a third-party and is in the possession of a Guest. No
When you loan your Insured Vehicle to any third party and it is in the possession of the otherwise permissive user. No
When you are delivering your Insured Vehicle to a Guest. No
When your Insured Vehicle is being cleaned, serviced,refuelled, or repositioned for future use. Yes
Will I need a GPS tracker or other device?
No, you don't need a GPS tracker or any other tracking device. We believe in saving you the extra monthly cost associated with tracking providers, allowing you to manage your insurance hassle-free.
How many miles a month can I drive with this insurance?
There are no mileage limitations. You can drive as much as you need without any restrictions.
Can I use this insurance to cover my vehicles on other platforms (e.g., Getaround, HyreCar) or for private rentals?
The Turo off-platform insurance only applies to vehicles rented through the Turo platform and provides coverage when your vehicles are "Off Platform" (off trip) and not being shared or delivered pursuant to a booking. If you are interested in extending your coverage to other platforms or private rentals, please contact us for more information.
I found a lower-priced off-platform auto insurance policy. Can you match the rate?

What states are currently supported for this insurance program?

Our insurance program is currently available in the following states:

  • New Jersey
  • Texas

I have a new vehicle that isn't registered with Turo yet. Can I insure it?
Yes, you can insure your vehicle, provided it is registered and made available on Turo’s platform within 30 days.
I can't find my vehicle on the website. What should I do?
If your vehicle doesn't appear on our site, please first verify that it is correctly listed in your Turo account. You can manually add a vehicle to our system, but it must be registered and made available on Turo within 30 days. If you need further assistance, feel free to contact our support team.
How can I find my Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) using my license plate number?

To locate your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) using your license plate, you have a few options:

Insurance or Registration Documents:

If you have access to your vehicle insurance card or registration documents, the VIN is often listed alongside your license plate number.

Use Online VIN Lookup Services:

Several online services can help you find your VIN using your license plate number. Websites like epicvin offer such services.

How can I find out the value of my car?

Websites such as epicvin and cars.com allow you to enter details about your vehicle (make, model, year, mileage, condition) to get an estimate of its current market value.

What if I want to make changes to my policy?
You can easily add or remove vehicles and enable or disable coverage for each vehicle as needed by logging into our Insurance Portal.
Who should I contact in case of a claim?

Where Can I Get my Host ID From?

Instructions

To find your Host ID, complete the following steps.

  1. Login to your Turo account using a desktop
  2. Click on your profile picture in the top right corner. Select 'Profile'
  3. In the URL you will see 7 digits. This is your Host ID

As an eligible Power Host you will have also received an email with your Host ID and additional information. To find this, search in your email inbox for the subject line 'Just landed: A new way to insure your portfolio'.
